Carl Froch fires back on Instagram
The former super-middleweight champion, 48, said he was preparing to go live on air when John Fury stormed the venue and shouted at him. Froch said he did not run and accused John of making noise without intent to fight, adding that a bout should be arranged through crossover promoters if John genuinely wanted it.
Froch named the Misfits promotion and suggested speaking with Mams Taylor to set up the match, then described the fight in specific ring terms: he said he would "pepper" John with jabs, land right hands to the body and help him up after a knockdown. Froch also used the phrase "empty vessels make the most noise" to characterise John’s behaviour.
John Fury demanded a fight on his son’s undercard
John Fury, 60, erupted during the press conference for Tyson Fury’s comeback and directly challenged Froch by name, saying: "Carl 'The Worm' Froch, you've got yourself a fight. Where do you want to fight? We'll do it in the ring, under the lights, at Tottenham in eight weeks' time. " The elder Fury pressed the point further, claiming he did not need months of training and proclaiming he was "ready to go now!"
During the outburst John also questioned Froch’s ability at heavyweight, saying Froch might be "alright at 12-stone" but "you haven't got anything at heavyweight, " and added he would "laugh when you hit me. " Froch had been presenting the news conference on Netflix when the confrontation occurred.
