Coleen Nolan brings intimate, family-run tour to Gateshead

Coleen Nolan is returning to the North East with a pared-back, audience-led show that blends music, memoir and candid conversation. The pop star, Emmy Award-winning broadcaster and bestselling author will perform at The Glasshouse in Gateshead on Saturday, February 21 (ET), promising a far more intimate experience than her previous concert outing.

A very different kind of night

After a sold-out run with her debut solo tour earlier in 2024, Nolan says this latest iteration is deliberately smaller and more conversational. "It’s nothing like the last tour, " she told audiences ahead of the date. "That one was all singing, all dancing, live band, backing singers – a proper concert. This one is much more intimate. It’s me and my son doing a Q& A, with the audience really involved. We’ll throw in a couple of songs, but it’s more like an autobiography live. "

The format leans into storytelling and reflection rather than full-scale performance, giving fans a chance to hear behind-the-scenes moments from a career that began with the family group the Nolan Sisters. Expect a mix of old clips, family footage and conversation punctuated by a few songs to soundtrack key memories.

Family at the heart of the show

This tour is being presented as a genuine family affair. Shane Nolan will host the Gateshead evening, while another son, Jake, handles production. Nolan says the familial team brings loose energy and trust that helps the evening feel relaxed and honest. "I’m so at ease with my family, " she explained. "They’re the people you trust the most and can really be yourself with. Shane will definitely take the Mick out of me, and I’d much rather that than everyone trying to make me feel better if something goes wrong. "

Those dynamics are key to the show’s tone: conversational, occasionally irreverent and heavy on warmth. Projection of archival material will transport audiences back to Nolan’s early days with her sisters, adding a nostalgic thread to the night while the live Q& A allows fans to steer parts of the discussion.

Fans in the North East and what to expect

Nolan singled out Gateshead and nearby Newcastle as places she and her family have always enjoyed touring, praising the region’s audiences for their lively, party-ready spirit. "We’ve always loved coming up to the North East, " she said. "Gateshead, Newcastle – they’re just the best audiences, aren’t they? They really know how to have a good night. They’re the kind of audience that could make a party out of anything, so I’m relying on Gateshead!"

Tickets for the Glasshouse date are on sale now, including options that offer a VIP meet-and-greet. While the show will include musical moments, it is pitched squarely as an intimate, audience-driven evening: part live autobiography, part family comedy and part nostalgia trip for long-time fans.

For those who followed Nolan’s sold-out concerts last year, the new tour represents a conscious change of pace – trading full-scale production for immediacy and conversation. For newcomers, the Gateshead date promises a close-up look at a performer who has shifted seamlessly between pop stardom, broadcasting and writing, and who now invites audiences to take part in the story.
