Air Transat Cancels U.S. Flights This Spring After WestJet Reduces Service
Air Transat has announced the cancellation of all its flights from Canada to the United States. This decision comes closely after WestJet reduced its U.S. flight offerings. The airline will specifically discontinue its popular routes servicing Florida.
Reason Behind Flight Cancellations
The travel landscape shows a significant decline in Canadian trips to the U.S., with figures remaining low. The expectation for a rebound in travel has not materialized. Current data indicates that U.S. travel demand has not reached pre-2025 levels, and airlines are reducing the number of seats offered to U.S. destinations.
Air Transat’s Flight Suspension Schedule
According to insights from Ailevon Pacific, Air Transat plans to cease all U.S. flights starting in June 2026. The following adjustments to flight schedules have been noted:
- Cuba Routes: Reduced capacity to Havana José Martí International Airport (HOG) and Cayo Coco Airport (CCC) in March and April 2026.
- Fort Lauderdale: Service suspended from Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) and Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) from May and June 2026 onward.
- Orlando: No flights from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) starting May 4, 2026.
After June 13, 2026, Air Transat will have no direct flights to the U.S., except for two scheduled services to San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in December.
Impact on Travelers
This sweeping change will significantly affect Canadian travelers looking to fly to the United States. With fewer flight options and an ongoing decline in travel demand, the landscape for traveling to the U.S. from Canada is becoming increasingly limited.
