Legacy of Kain: Ascendance Launches Next Month After Two-Decade Hiatus
After a lengthy hiatus of over twenty years, Crystal Dynamics is set to unveil the latest installment in the Legacy of Kain series. Titled Legacy of Kain: Ascendance, this new game is scheduled for release on March 31, 2026, marking an exciting return for fans.
What to Expect from Legacy of Kain: Ascendance
Legacy of Kain: Ascendance promises a shift in style compared to its predecessors. The game adopts a retro pixel art aesthetic and features a sidescroller platformer format. Players will have the opportunity to engage with four iconic characters:
- Kain
- Raziel (both vampire and human forms)
- Elaleth
Elaleth, though new to gameplay, has featured in graphic novels associated with the series. Each character will have approximately equal gameplay time, making for a diverse gaming experience.

The game combines pixel art with hand-drawn, anime-style cinematics. Additionally, it evokes the classic 3D style reminiscent of the original PlayStation-era games.
The soundtrack will be composed by Celldweller, known for his work on the graphic novel Soul Reaver: The Dead Shall Rise. This creative collaboration is anticipated to enhance the immersive experience of the game.
