Snowboarder and Figure Skater Chase Medals
On Friday, February 11, two South Korean athletes, snowboarder Lee Chaeun and figure skater Cha Jun-hwan, will strive for medals at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Northern Italy.
Lee Chaeun Competes in Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe
Lee Chaeun will be among 12 competitors in the men’s snowboard halfpipe final. The competition is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. local time at the Livigno Snow Park, located approximately 140 kilometers north of Milan.
During the final, each snowboarder will make three runs. The best score from these attempts will determine their placement. In this event, the highest and lowest scores from the six judges will be discarded. Judges will focus on the difficulty, height, and execution of Lee’s acrobatic moves on the 22-foot U-shaped ramp.
Cha Jun-hwan in Men’s Singles Figure Skating
Meanwhile, Cha Jun-hwan will perform his free skate in the men’s singles figure skating event at the Milano Ice Skating Arena. He ranked sixth in the short program with a score of 92.72 points, marking his best of the season.
Cha is just 9.83 points behind third place, held by Adam Siao Him Fa from France. Cha previously finished fifth at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, which was a record for a Korean male figure skater. He aims to surpass this achievement in the current Olympics.
