Zandberg Comments on Czarzasty Scandal: “He Wouldn’t Lose His Crown”

Adrian Zandberg, co-chair of the Razem Party, recently commented on the controversy surrounding Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the Speaker of the Sejm. His remarks came during the program “Tłit,” where he criticized the ruling PiS party’s request for a closed-door session concerning Czarzasty’s contacts.

Zandberg Addresses the Czarzasty Scandal

Zandberg expressed concern over the secrecy surrounding the discussions. He stated that if there are doubts, they should be shared with the public instead of being handled behind closed doors. He emphasized that a private session is not an effective tool for transparency.

Czarzasty’s Actions Criticized

According to Zandberg, Czarzasty would not risk losing his position if he had simply filled out the required security questionnaire. He termed Czarzasty’s failure to do so as a mistake. By complying, Czarzasty could have mitigated speculation regarding the situation.

Zandberg mentioned that while he has numerous reasons to criticize Czarzasty, the key issue is how external influences interact with Polish sovereignty. He firmly believes decisions regarding political positions should be made by Polish voters and parliament members, not foreign ambassadors.

The Role of Foreign Diplomats

  • Zandberg asserted that ambassadors, including the U.S. representative, should not instruct Polish officials.
  • He stressed the importance of maintaining Poland’s sovereignty against foreign interference.

He concluded that while valid critiques of Czarzasty’s actions exist domestically, the ultimate authority rests with the Polish electorate, not foreign governments.
