Overcoming Challenges and Personal Growth

“Performing under pressure is crucial in short-track speed skating,” she stated. The experience from her past Olympic journey shaped her approach this time around, enabling her to focus on her performance without the distractions of a pandemic atmosphere.

“I put less pressure on myself in the 500-metre, which makes it more enjoyable,” she remarked.

As one of two New Brunswick athletes on the Canadian short-track speed skating team, Sarault felt the warmth of support from her home province. Many from New Brunswick took to social media to celebrate her victory, showcasing community pride in their Olympians.

“What they say inspires me. It reinforces that I’m competing not just for myself but for them too,” she concluded.
