Vancouver Welcomes Back Giant Lunar New Year Lantern Festival
Vancouver is set to celebrate one of its most significant Lunar New Year festivals with the return of the Giant Lunar New Year Lantern Festival. This vibrant event will run from February 14 to 28, 2026, marking the Year of the Horse.
LunarFest Vancouver: A Community Celebration
LunarFest Vancouver promises a rich array of activities across several locations in the city. Key events include concerts, storytelling, crafts, and trivia games, all designed to foster community engagement. According to Charlie Wu, managing director of the Asian-Canadian Special Events Association, the focus is on creating deeper connections through art and storytelling. Wu emphasized that LunarFest serves as a platform for unity and understanding within the diverse population of Vancouver.
Lantern City Returns
This year’s highlight is the Lantern City, where enormous, artistic lanterns by renowned creators will be displayed at five key locations:

- Pendulum Gallery
- Granville Island
- 800 Robson Street
- Bentall Centre
The lanterns at Pendulum Gallery will be on display until February 27. The other locations will showcase their giant lanterns from February 14 until early March.

LunarFest will host the 2026 Lunarfest Concert on February 24 at the Orpheum Theatre. Featured performers include:

- West Vancouver Youth Band’s Symphonic Strings

Families can also enjoy storytelling and hands-on activities on Granville Island during Family Day weekend. Attendees can participate in the inaugural LunarFest Trivia Game, with opportunities to win exciting prizes while exploring the island.
