Grant Chen, the head coach of the SMU men’s tennis team, played a crucial role in the tournament’s creation. A preliminary 30-minute meeting among key organizers expanded into a three-hour discussion that laid the groundwork for the Dallas Open. Chen reflects on the journey, stating, “It’s been a remarkable ride. This all started with a lunch on December 17, 2020. Six years later, it has grown tremendously.”
