FBI Unveils New Footage of Masked Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance

Authorities have released new surveillance footage related to the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared these images and videos on social media, highlighting a masked individual at Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona home.

Details of the Footage

The released videos depict a person wearing a backpack near the front porch of Guthrie’s residence. In a 27-second clip, the individual approaches the front door and raises a gloved hand to the camera. Another 14-second video shows the suspect holding a flashlight in their mouth while obstructing the camera lens with some vegetation.

Investigation Insights

Law enforcement stated that the suspect tampered with a home security camera on February 1, the day Nancy Guthrie was reported missing. At approximately 1:47 a.m., a doorbell camera at her home was disconnected, which is critical to the investigation.

The FBI has indicated that they recovered the footage from residual data in backend systems, collaborating with Google to obtain video from the Nest camera. Currently, this individual is considered a subject of interest but not a suspect.

Community Outreach

In response to the troubling situation, Savannah Guthrie urged the public to assist in the search. She emphasized the possibility that someone might recognize the individual from the footage. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home,” she expressed on social media.

Desperately seeking answers, Savannah Guthrie has requested that anyone with information report it to law enforcement, regardless of their distance from Tucson. “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help,” she added.

The investigation reaches a critical point as the deadline passed for an alleged ransom note demanding payment in Bitcoin. An FBI spokesperson mentioned that there is currently no known communication between the Guthrie family and the suspected kidnappers.

“Someone has that one piece of information that can help us bring Nancy home,” the spokesperson implored. Tips can be provided by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI.
