Graham Advances to Moguls Final After Narrow Escape

Australian skier Matt Graham has successfully advanced to the men’s moguls final at the Winter Olympics taking place in Livigno. However, his journey to this stage was far from comfortable.

Close Call for Graham at Winter Olympics

A silver medalist from the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, Graham barely secured his spot, finishing 10th in the initial qualifying round. Only the top ten competitors earned automatic advancement to the final. His score, 75.77, was significantly below his season’s best, leaving him anxiously waiting to confirm his place.

Competition Overview

Graham ranked second in the world, faced a challenging run down a bumpy slope. He managed to qualify, but his performance was not without concern. The field featured notable competitors, including:

  • Ikuma Horishima from Japan, the world’s top-ranked moguls skier, who qualified in first place
  • Canada’s Julien Viel in second place
  • Triple Olympic medallist Mikael Kingsbury in third

Other Australian skiers also participated, including:

  • Cooper Woods, who finished 15th
  • Jackson Harvey in 23rd
  • George Murphy in 25th

Upcoming Women’s Qualifiers

The women’s qualifying event is scheduled for later tonight. Australia’s Jakara Anthony aims to defend her gold medal. She, along with teammates Charlotte Wilson and Emma Bosco, will compete in the qualifiers at 12:15 AM (AEDT).

With the finals fast approaching, expectations are high for both the men’s and women’s moguls teams from Australia at these Winter Olympics.
