Gemini Unveils Redesigned ‘Tools’ App for Android and iOS

Gemini has recently announced a significant redesign of its “Tools” app for both Android and iOS platforms. This update introduces several features aimed at enhancing user experience and streamlining access to various functionalities.

Redesigned Tools Menu Overview

The updated Tools menu on Android now features a new sliding panel design. Users will notice that the sheet is specifically named for easier navigation. At the bottom of the Tools menu, there’s a new section labeled “Experimental features,” which comes with a “Labs” badge, signaling upcoming innovations.

Feature Enhancements for Google AI Subscribers

For subscribers in the U.S. using Google AI, a new toggle labeled “Personal Intelligence” has been added. This feature allows users to switch on or off personalization for current conversations, providing more control over their interactions.

Changes to the My Stuff Section

  • The “My stuff” panel, which was previously called “My Stuff,” has undergone a redesign on both Android and the web.
  • Users will no longer see previews of their three most recent items, leading to a cleaner user interface.
  • A playful smiley star-shaped icon enhances its visual appeal.

iOS Updates and Document Organization

On the iOS platform, the Tools menu has transitioned from the traditional pop-up menu style to a bottom sheet format, similar to the model picker. The menu for attachments remains unchanged, allowing a seamless experience.

Additionally, users on iOS will see an update to the organization of Documents and Media. This feature was previously introduced on the web and is yet to go live on the Android version.

Current Availability

The redesigned Tools menu is currently rolling out, bringing a fresh look and enhanced functionality to Gemini users across different platforms. Stay tuned for more updates as these features become available.
