UK Travel Company Shuts Down, Cancels Flights to 28 Countries

A UK travel company has abruptly shut down operations, affecting flights to 28 countries. Asiara UK Ltd, based in Ipswich, ceased trading on Tuesday, January 13, following a filing to be struck off last October.

Company Background and Offerings

Initially launched as Haivenu Tours, the company rebranded as Asiara Holidays in 2022. It specialized in package holidays to various destinations in Asia, including:

  • China
  • Thailand
  • India
  • Sri Lanka
  • Japan

Asiara UK positioned itself as the “gateway to Asia,” offering diverse travel experiences. Their packages included:

  • 17-day tours to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand
  • 10-day ‘Island Hopping’ trips to the Philippines
  • Various city breaks and themed holidays like birdwatching, cooking, and hiking
  • Luxury deals and honeymoon packages

Impact of the Closure

The company’s dissolution on January 21 led to all booked holidays being cancelled. Customers who had made reservations will face significant disruptions as a result.

Customer Protection

Despite the unfortunate collapse, customers are protected by the Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL). This scheme ensures that travellers can reclaim their money in case of a company failure. Asiara UK operated under Protected Trust Services (PTS), which safeguards consumer funds.

The PTS mission is to keep consumers safe during their travel experiences, whether it’s a weekend getaway or an extensive overseas journey.
