“Digimon Story: Switch Update Promises Free Upgrade for Switch 2”
The upcoming release of “Digimon Story: Time Stranger” will offer exciting updates for players on the Nintendo Switch and its successor, the Switch 2. The game is set to launch in July and will feature a free upgrade option for those who own the original Switch version.
Free Upgrade for Switch 2 Users
Players who purchase “Digimon Story: Time Stranger” for the original Switch will be able to enjoy improved graphics when played on the Switch 2. This upgrade will enhance the game to match the capabilities of the Switch 2, following a similar initiative by Bandai Namco for “Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! ZERO.”
Graphical Improvements
Upon booting up “Digimon Story: Time Stranger” on the Switch 2, players can download an update that enhances graphics. This update will allow players to experience visuals equivalent to those found in the version designed specifically for the Switch 2.
Performance Options on Switch 2
The Switch 2 will provide two performance modes: Quality Mode and Performance Mode. Each mode offers a different visual and performance experience, as outlined below:
- Quality Mode:
- 4K HDR resolution, up to 30 FPS when docked
- Full HD resolution, up to 30 FPS in handheld mode
- Performance Mode:
- Full HD resolution, up to 60 FPS when docked
- Full HD resolution, up to 60 FPS in handheld mode
However, returning to the original Switch version will revert the graphics to their previous state, as the enhanced options will not be available.
Game Formats and Collector’s Editions
As per recent online listings, “Digimon Story: Time Stranger” for the Switch 2 is set to release as a Game-Key Card. In contrast, the original Switch version will be available as a full physical release. This aspect may attract collectors looking for tangible copies when the game launches.
Other Bandai Namco Announcements
In addition to “Digimon Story: Time Stranger,” Bandai Namco has also announced that “Tales of Arise” will be arriving on the Switch 2 in May. This move indicates the company’s continued support for next-generation gaming platforms.
