Mo Faal and Harry Ashfield Join Cheltenham Town on Loan

Cheltenham Town is finalizing a loan agreement for midfielder Harry Ashfield from Championship club Wrexham. The 19-year-old Ashfield has made one appearance for Wrexham in the Championship, contributing to a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on January 1. Earlier this season, he also scored in an EFL Cup game against Preston.

In addition, forward Mo Faal, a teammate at Wrexham, is expected to join Cheltenham before the Monday transfer deadline at 7 PM. Faal, who is 6 feet 5 inches tall, has spent the first half of the season on loan at League One side Port Vale.

Mo Faal’s Career Progression

Mo Faal’s football journey began at West Brom, where he developed through the youth system. Following that, he gained experience through numerous loan spells at clubs like:

  • Hereford
  • Telford United
  • AFC Fylde
  • Doncaster Rovers
  • Walsall

Faal made a permanent move to Wrexham in 2024 after a strong performance at Walsall, where he scored six goals in nine League Two starts and 11 appearances off the bench. He continued his scoring form at Doncaster, netting 10 goals across 26 starts and seven substitute appearances in all competitions.

Recent Transfers and Signings

Cheltenham Town, managed by Steve Cotterill, has made several additions to its squad this season. Jake Bickerstaff, who was previously on loan from Wrexham, has had his deal converted into a permanent transfer. Other new signings include:

  • George Nurse – Left-back, signed from Shrewsbury Town
  • Cole Deeming – Midfielder, on loan from West Brom
  • Josh Davison – Forward, on loan from Tranmere Rovers

Both Deeming and Davison will remain with the club until the end of the season. As they approach the transfer deadline, Cheltenham Town is actively working to strengthen their squad with these strategic loan signings.
