City Facility and Service Updates for January 28, 2026
On January 28, 2026, various City facilities and services in Arlington will experience significant updates due to ongoing winter conditions. The city is focused on ensuring the safety of residents and efficient operation of essential services amidst icy road conditions.
City Facility Opening Hours
All Arlington Public Library locations and recreation centers will operate during regular business hours. They will serve as warming centers for residents requiring assistance. However, several key facilities will see a delayed opening.

Waste Collection Service Adjustments

Collection Schedule Changes
- Monday Collection Area: Postponed until February 2. Trash bags outside carts will be collected on this date.
- Tuesday Collection Area: No recycling or brush/bulk collection this week. Trash collection will occur on Thursday and Friday.
- Wednesday to Friday Collection Areas: No recycling or brush/bulk collection. Collection days have been shifted as follows:
- Wednesday’s trash collection to Thursday
- Thursday’s trash collection to Friday
- Friday’s trash collection to Saturday
Residents should ensure all trash is placed inside their carts. If pickups are missed, they can report issues to Republic Services at 817-317-2000.
Landfill Operations
The landfill will be closed on January 28 due to the weather conditions.
Transportation Services
Arlington On-Demand services will start at noon on January 28. Expect slower service due to road conditions. Handitran will also operate from noon to 7 p.m. on this day.
Recreation and Dining Facilities
The Arlington Tennis Center will reopen once ice conditions improve. Public golf courses and local restaurants, including the Home Plate Restaurant and Ventana Grille, are expected to return to normal operations by February 2.
Municipal Court Updates
Municipal Court will resume operations at noon on January 28. All morning dockets are rescheduled, but afternoon court activities will proceed as planned.
Overnight Shelter Availability
Overnight shelters in Arlington will remain operational during this period:
- Salvation Army: 712 W. Abram St., accepting guests from January 27 to February 1, with check-in from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- First United Methodist Church: 407 N. Mesquite St., accepting guests from January 27 to February 1, with check-in from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Road Closures and Travel Advisory
As of January 27, several roads are closed:
- East Beady Road at North Cooper Street entrance
- Eastbound West Lamar Boulevard at Olivia Lane (westbound lane is open)
- North Davis Drive south of NW Green Oaks Boulevard
- Brown Boulevard from North Collins Street to Canyon Ridge Court
