Flagstaff Police Probe Teen Death Near NAU Neighborhood
Flagstaff authorities are investigating the death of a Northern Arizona University (NAU) student in a neighborhood close to the campus. The incident occurred on Saturday morning, shortly before 9 a.m., when police received reports of an unresponsive individual at a residence near Pine Knoll Drive and Lone Tree Road.
Details of the Incident
Upon arrival, police found that bystanders had already begun administering CPR. However, first responders noted that the student was not breathing. Their investigation revealed that the victim had attended a fraternity rush event for Delta Tau Delta just the previous night.
Arrests Made
During their investigation at the scene, officers learned that multiple individuals at the gathering had been consuming alcohol, including the deceased and other prospective fraternity members. This led to the arrest of three NAU students who were members of Delta Tau Delta:
- Carter Eslick, 20, New Member Educator
- Ryan Creech, 20, Vice President
- Riley Cass, 20, Treasurer
All three are facing charges related to hazing and were booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives are currently examining the evidence and awaiting the official cause of death from the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. While police have notified the family, the identity of the student has not yet been released.
This tragic event has raised concerns regarding student safety and fraternity practices in the Flagstaff area. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
