Ravens to Appoint Bears’ Doyle as Offensive Coordinator: Sources

The Baltimore Ravens have announced the appointment of Declan Doyle as their new offensive coordinator, a move that signifies a new direction for the franchise. Sources report that Doyle was hired on Friday, making him the youngest offensive playcaller in the NFL at just 29 years old, the same age as the team’s star quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

Declan Doyle: A Rising Star in Coaching

Prior to joining the Ravens, Doyle spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears. Although he had the title, head coach Ben Johnson was responsible for calling plays. Despite limited experience, Doyle has garnered a reputation as one of the top young offensive minds in the league.

Coaching Experience and Achievements

  • 2024: Offensive coordinator for Chicago Bears
  • 2019-2022: Offensive assistant for New Orleans Saints
  • 2023-2024: Tight ends coach for Denver Broncos

Doyle played a crucial role in transforming the Bears’ offense. Under his guidance, Chicago improved from the league’s lowest-ranked offense in 2024 to the sixth-best in the previous season. The team averaged 26 points per game in 2025, a significant increase from 18.2 points per game in 2024, which ranked 28th in the league.

New Challenges Ahead for the Ravens

As the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, Doyle faces the important task of revitalizing Lamar Jackson’s performance. Last season, Jackson averaged only 196.1 passing yards per game and recorded 21 touchdown passes, both of which were his lowest statistics since the 2022 season.

Expectations from the Incoming Coordinator

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter has expressed the need for an “innovator” and a “connector” who can build an effective scheme around Jackson. This will be Jackson’s fourth offensive coordinator in his upcoming ninth NFL season. Historically, Jackson has thrived with new offensive strategies, leading to MVP seasons after previous changes.

The Ravens are optimistic that Doyle’s innovative approach will assist in enhancing their offensive game plan and supporting Jackson in achieving his full potential.
