Google Chrome Launches Gemini-Powered Auto-Browsing Feature

Google Chrome Launches Gemini-Powered Auto-Browsing Feature

Google has launched a groundbreaking new feature for Chrome, leveraging its advanced AI model, Gemini 3. This feature, termed “auto browse,” enables users to automate web-based tasks directly from their browser. Currently, it is accessible only to paying subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra.

What is the Auto Browsing Feature?

The auto browse feature offers an intelligent browsing experience. It incorporates Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, which operates from a sidebar within the Chrome interface. Users can interact with websites seamlessly while receiving assistance from the AI.

How Does Auto Browsing Work?

With auto browse, Gemini can perform a variety of actions on web pages. This includes:

  • Clicking buttons
  • Inputting text
  • Scrolling through content

To initiate a task, users simply type their request into the Gemini sidebar. Upon acknowledgment, Gemini will respond with, “Task started.” For example, if a user needs to shop for a themed party on Etsy, they can specify their budget and preferences. The AI will search for relevant items, add them to the cart, and then notify the user once the cart is ready for review.

Contingency Measures

A safety feature called the “Take over task” button is located at the top of the browser. This option allows users to regain control if the AI does not perform as intended.

Additional AI Features from Google

This launch is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI into its various products. Recently, they introduced Nano Banana to Chrome and enhanced AI Mode within Google Search’s AI Overviews.

As Google continues to innovate, the auto browse feature promises to make browsing more efficient, but currently, it remains exclusive to premium subscribers of Google’s AI services.
