Timothée Chalamet Sets Oscars Record as Youngest with Three Acting Nominations

Timothée Chalamet has made headlines with his remarkable achievement at the Oscars. The acclaimed actor has secured his third nomination for Best Actor, becoming the youngest male artist to achieve this milestone. His latest nomination stems from his role as Marty Mauser, a table tennis prodigy, in Josh Safdie’s sports dramedy “Marty Supreme.”

Breaking Records at the Oscars

At just 30 years old, Chalamet’s accomplishment is unprecedented in Academy Awards history. His previous nominations were for “Call Me by Your Name” in 2017 and “A Complete Unknown” in 2024. The latter award made him the third-youngest nominee at 22 years of age.

Competition in the Best Actor Category

This year, Chalamet faces notable contenders for the Best Actor award:

  • Leonardo DiCaprio for “One Battle After Another”
  • Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon”
  • Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners”
  • Wagner Moura for “The Secret Agent”

In addition to his Best Actor nomination, Chalamet is also nominated for Best Picture as a producer alongside Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, and Anthony Katagas. This makes him the youngest individual to receive dual nominations for acting and producing in the same year.

Historic Wins and Future Potential

On January 11, Chalamet won the Golden Globe for Best Actor (comedy or musical) for “Marty Supreme,” making him the youngest recipient in that category’s history. Previously, at the age of 29, he received the Best Actor award at The Actor Awards for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown,” establishing himself as the youngest awardee in the Screen Actors Guild category.

If he triumphs at the Oscars, Chalamet would be the second youngest Best Actor winner ever, just behind Adrien Brody, who won at 29 for “The Pianist.” He would also join an elite group of the sixth youngest male acting winners across all categories, which includes Timothy Hutton, Cuba Gooding Jr., George Chakiris, and Heath Ledger.

Upcoming Dates

Final voting for the Oscars runs from February 26 to March 5. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 15 and will be broadcast on ABC, featuring Conan O’Brien as the host.
