Steelers Schedule In-Person Interviews with Brian Flores, Anthony Weaver

The Pittsburgh Steelers are moving forward with their head coaching search, scheduling a series of in-person interviews with notable candidates. The team is focusing on experienced football minds to enhance their coaching staff. Among the candidates is Brian Flores, the Vikings’ defensive coordinator.

In-Person Interviews Scheduled

The Steelers will conduct an in-person interview with Brian Flores. He previously served as a defensive assistant under head coach Mike Tomlin during the 2022 season. Additionally, they will meet with Anthony Weaver, the current defensive coordinator for the Dolphins.

Interview Timeline and Restrictions

Due to NFL regulations, all interviews with coaches still employed by other teams are required to be conducted virtually until after the divisional round of the playoffs.

Other Candidates Considered

In their search for a head coach, the Steelers have also engaged with a variety of candidates:

  • Mike McCarthy – Former head coach of the Cowboys and Packers
  • Chris Shula – Defensive coordinator for the Rams
  • Nate Scheelhaase – Rams pass game coordinator
  • Jesse Minter – Chargers defensive coordinator
  • Jeff Hafley – Packers defensive coordinator
  • Klay Kubiak – 49ers offensive coordinator

Chris Shula and Nate Scheelhaase are not available for second-round interviews until after the NFC Championship Game. This reflects the Steelers’ strategy to find a suitable leader to steer their franchise into a new era.

The outcome of these interviews will determine the direction of the team as they strive for success in the upcoming season.
