Age-group breakdown

Jundiaí has 1,471 voters aged 16 and 17. That includes 375 sixteen-year-olds and 1,096 seventeen-year-olds.

There are 40,680 voters aged over 70. Young residents who turn 16 by election day may also register.

Legal timetable and effects

The registry closes 150 days before Election Day, following electoral law. This year’s election is scheduled for October 4.

From May 7, no changes will be permitted until after the vote. That includes new registrations and transfers.

Consequences of irregular status

Failing to regularize may trigger fines and administrative barriers. The Electoral Code sets fines from 3% to 10% of the minimum wage.

Irregular voters can face difficulties taking public office, receiving public salaries, or accessing benefits. They may also be barred from public exams, school re-enrollment, passport issuance, and obtaining electoral clearance certificates.

If a voter remains irregular for three consecutive elections, the registration may be cancelled.

How to regularize

Applicants must present an official photo ID and proof of residence. Men over 18 must also show military service documentation.

Fifteen-year-olds may request registration if they will be 16 by October 4. Procedures are handled by local Electoral Justice offices.

Alceu Eder Massucato, president of the OAB Jundiaí Electoral Commission, urged swift action. He noted that the deadline is approaching rapidly and warned about post-deadline restrictions.
