On April 8, a tragic incident occurred on the A361 Frome Road in Trowbridge, claiming the life of an elderly man. At approximately 9:10 AM, Wiltshire Police received reports of a collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Peugeot 208.
Details of the Fatal Collision
Despite immediate medical assistance from emergency services, the driver of the Polo, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities suspect he may have suffered a medical episode before the accident. His next of kin have been notified, and the police expressed condolences during this difficult time.
Injuries Reported
- A female passenger in her 70s sustained potentially serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) responded swiftly to the scene. They dispatched four double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, and a rapid response vehicle. One patient was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, while another was taken by land ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath.
Road Closure and Investigation
Following the collision, Frome Road was closed for several hours to facilitate investigations and the recovery of the vehicles involved. The road has since been reopened. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
