What's Causing the Closings and Delays?

A major winter storm tracking up the East Coast brought several inches of wet, heavy snow to the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region Sunday evening into Monday morning. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the District of Columbia, central and southern Maryland, and northern Virginia, forecasting 2 to 4 inches of snow with localized totals around 5 inches, along with northwest wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph overnight through Monday morning. Maryland State Government declared liberal leave for all counties and Baltimore City from 6:00 AM ET through the end of the Monday day shift.

Conditions are expected to improve through midday. Check your school system's official website, app, or social media feeds for any updates on Tuesday schedules.
