Kyle Falconer Unveils New Album ‘Lovely Night Of Terror’
Kyle Falconer, the lead singer of the indie rock band The View, has officially announced his new solo album, Lovely Night Of Terror. This highly anticipated release is scheduled to arrive on March 27, under Modern Sky and Run On Records. The album follows his previous solo effort, The One I Love The Most, which was released in 2025.
Recording and Collaborations
Falconer recorded Lovely Night Of Terror at his La Sierra Casa studio located in Alicante, Spain. The album includes notable collaborations with various artists: Jamie Webster, Lottery Winners, Justin Hawkins, and Dave McCabe.
Creative Process
The recording took place during a period when Falconer was taking some time away from the bustling life. Reflecting on this, he shared, “It was around Christmas in 2024, and we were out in the countryside in Spain, in the middle of nowhere. There was nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, which gave the whole thing a strange but brilliant energy.”
Falconer also expressed his fascination with the duality in his songwriting. He stated, “All the songs I write have quite dark meanings, but they’re also happy. I love that oxymoron. I love horror films and trying to capture that sense of collective madness.”
Lead Single and Guest Appearances
The first single from the upcoming album, titled Midas Touch, features Peter Doherty of The Libertines, Babyshambles, and Puta Madres. Falconer shared insights on this collaboration, saying, “I thought it would be cool to get someone to sing on it who wasn’t known for doing pop, and Pete felt like an obvious choice.”
Recalling a memorable moment, Falconer said, “He was playing in Edinburgh, so I took my kids to see him – and he had his baby there as well. It was a great moment.” This experience included backstage discussions with Doherty, where Falconer humorously noted they discussed how the song resembled Michael Jackson’s style.
Background on The View and Falconer’s Career
The View, formed in 2005 in Dundee, Scotland, went on a hiatus in 2017 after a decade since their debut album, Hats Off To The Buskers. The band reunited in 2022 after a successful ten-year anniversary tour. Falconer’s solo journey began with the release of his first album, No Thank You, in 2018.
Conclusion
As anticipation builds for Lovely Night Of Terror, fans can experience the lead single Midas Touch now. Pre-orders for the album are available, promising an intriguing blend of darkness and happiness that Falconer aims to deliver through his latest work.
