Born and raised in Liverpool, Coady developed through the Liverpool academy. His senior career began with a loan to Sheffield United for the 2013/14 season, where he made 50 appearances. He then moved to Huddersfield Town permanently in August 2014, playing 48 matches before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2015.

At Wolves, Coady enjoyed substantial success, captaining the team for eight seasons and making 317 appearances. His leadership contributed to the team’s Sky Bet Championship title and subsequent promotion to the Premier League. Notably, he played every minute of Wolves’ Europa League campaign in 2019/20, leading the squad to the quarter-finals.

During his Premier League tenure, Coady earned 10 caps for the England national team. In the tail end of his Wolves career, he spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Everton. He later moved to Leicester City in July 2024, where he played a pivotal role in helping the Foxes win the Sky Bet Championship title in his debut season, making 43 appearances in total.
