Waterloo Region Schools to Close Monday

Waterloo Region Schools to Close Monday

Numerous educational institutions in the Waterloo Region are scheduled to remain closed on Monday. This decision was made due to adverse weather conditions affecting the area.

Waterloo Region Schools Closure Announcement

Both the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board confirmed the closures late Sunday evening around 9 p.m. All students will not be attending school on Monday. Additionally, all school bus transportation services have been canceled.

Impact on Educational Institutions

The closures extend beyond primary and secondary schools. French language schools and private educational institutions will also be closed. Furthermore, prominent post-secondary schools, including:

  • University of Waterloo
  • Wilfrid Laurier University
  • Conestoga College
  • University of Guelph

these institutions will not hold classes on Monday following a significant snowfall.

Weather Conditions

The weather in the Waterloo Region has been challenging. By Sunday afternoon, snowfall totaled between 2 to 8 cm in various areas, with Monday morning measuring approximately 10 to 15 cm. While this snowfall is not the largest in recent history, it poses difficulties for snow clearing crews who are struggling to manage frequent snowfalls this season.
