Cherry Audio Unveils SH-MAX Plugin, Merging Three Vintage Roland Synths
Cherry Audio has launched the SH-MAX plugin, a new virtual instrument that combines features from three iconic Roland synthesizers. The SH-MAX draws inspiration from the SH series that gained popularity in the 1970s, specifically integrating components from the SH-5, SH-7, and SH-3A.
Features of the SH-MAX Plugin
This innovative plugin is more than just a software emulation; it represents a fusion of pioneering synthesis technologies. Cherry Audio has emphasized the distinct sound of the SH-5, enhancing it with elements from the other two models to create a product with enhanced power and versatility.
Core Components
- SH-5: Includes dual oscillators, two LFOs, multimode filters, ring modulator, and sample & hold functionality.
- SH-7: Incorporates autobend, duophony, filter FM, and syncable VCOs with additional waveforms.
- SH-3A: Adds an additive-style oscillator for increased flexibility.
The SH-MAX also features expressive capabilities inspired by the SH-2000 and a classic sequencer modeled after the Model 104.
Performance and Usability
Users can operate the SH-MAX as a classic mono or duophonic synthesizer. It supports layered sounds and boasts 16 voices of polyphony. The Touch Effects panel enhances performance, offering four assignable controls and supporting polyphonic aftertouch.
- Step Sequencer: A four-channel sequencer that runs patterns up to 16 steps in parallel.
- Cycle Lengths: Capable of chaining sequences for 32 or 64-step cycles.
With over 300 onboard presets, the SH-MAX provides vast creative possibilities for music makers today.
