2025 Goals: Defense Department Achieves 92.32% Performance Rate

The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, initiated an assessment on February 2, 2026, to evaluate the implementation of the 2025 Goals set for government members. The first session focused on the Minister of State for War and National Defense, General Célestin Simporé.

Defense Department Achieves 92.32% Performance Rate

During this evaluation, the Defense Department reported a remarkable physical execution rate of 92.32%. This figure reflects a generally satisfactory performance in relation to the established objectives.

Key Achievements

This successful performance resulted from executing around thirty major activities. The primary focuses included:

  • Enhancing combat forces
  • Reclaiming national territory
  • Stabilizing local communities
  • Facilitating the return of displaced populations
  • Providing psychological and psychosocial support to engaged forces

According to General Simporé, an increase in military operations allowed control of nearly 74% of national territory. This accounts for approximately 400 to 500 reclaimed villages, significantly contributing to the state’s security and authority restoration.

Ongoing Commitment

General Simporé expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of the defense forces, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and the resilient populations. Their unwavering commitment plays a crucial role in the struggle for freedom and sovereignty in Burkina Faso and the broader AES confederation.

The Prime Minister commended both the Minister of State and his department for their ongoing efforts against terrorism and securing the nation. Looking ahead to 2026, he reaffirmed the state’s dedication to supporting the armed forces through:

  • Recruitment
  • Training
  • Logistical and equipment enhancements
  • Improving healthcare and psychosocial mechanisms for injured combatants and those affected by terrorism

This forward-looking approach underscores the government’s commitment to national security and rebuilding efforts in the face of ongoing challenges.
