Gus Malzahn has announced his retirement from coaching, effective Monday. The offensive coordinator for Florida State University (FSU) expressed his desire to spend more time with his family after 35 years in coaching. FSU has appointed Tim Harris Jr. as the new offensive coordinator. Harris previously served as co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. FSU’s Offensive Performance in 2025
Under Malzahn’s guidance, Florida State’s offense thrived in 2025. The team led the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in total offense, averaging 472.1 yards per game, which ranked sixth in the nation. Their ground game excelled as well, with an average of 218.7 rushing yards per game, placing 13th nationally. This remarkable performance marked the second time in four seasons that FSU topped the conference in both total offense and rushing offense.

Tim Harris brings extensive experience to his new role. He previously coordinated offenses at UCF and FIU and has spent two seasons at FSU, demonstrating success in developing high-performing offenses. In 2025, his unit was instrumental in maintaining FSU’s ACC-leading offense metrics.
